Hicks' OT winner helps men's soccer overcome Stonehill

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College men's soccer team stunned Stonehill College with a 2-1 comeback overtime win in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Abdow Field on Saturday, October 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The game reached the 70th minute with no scoring in spite of a heavy AIC shot advantage, but it was Stonehill that broke the deadlock, as Keegan Nutt set up Ian Pereira for a bid into the target at 70:31.
  • Down to the final three minutes, the AIC offense pushed and was able to equalize late, with graduate defender Yanis Boucetta dishing a pass to junior forward Josip Validzic for the tying tally at 87:48, forcing overtime.
  • The Yellow Jackets completed the comeback, as graduate defender Adrian Romero's cross from the left side of the box was deflected in by the knee of junior forward Connor Hicks at the top of the six at 95:15 to give AIC three critical NE10 standings points.
