Football falls to reigning NE10 champs

WORCESTER, Massachusetts- The American International College Football team headed to Worcester to take on the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Champion Greyhounds of Assumption College on Saturday, September 29.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The reigning NE10 Champions came out fast as on their first two drives of the game, the Greyhounds had a touchdown and a field goal to make it 10-0.
  • The highlight of the of the first quarter for the Yellow Jackets was when redshirt sophomore defensive linemen David Tobe forced a Greyhound fumble and sophomore linebacker Jaysen Thompsen recovered. The Yellow Jackets used that forced turnover to go 46 yards on 11 plays that ended with a 32-yard field goal by redshirt freshman Gianni Romero to make it 10-3.
  • With 3:37 left in the first half, sophomore running back Samad Davila went 14-yards on the ground for a touchdown to make it a 24-9 game.
  • The Greyhounds went on to score 21 points in the third and two in the fourth to take the game 54-9.

GAME NOTES:
  • The Yellow Jackets did not throw an interception against Assumption on Saturday afternoon. The last time that happened was last season against Assumption on November 4.

NEXT UP:
  • AIC will have a bye week before taking on the Chargers of New Haven for Homecoming on Saturday, October 13 at noon.
