SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team hosted their second game of the season against a talented Stonehill Skyhawks team at Abdow Field, earning a 3-1 victory on Tuesday, September 18.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first goal of the night came from the Skyhawks in the 17th minute. Freshman midfielder Camryn Thompson scored her sixth goal of the season to give Stonehill a 1-0 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets would respond in the 27th minute of a goal from junior midfielder Jennifer Hackett, who tipped a ball home from senior midfielder Federica Frew.
- Just before the half, redshirt freshman midfielder Anniina Sankoh put one in the back of the net to give AIC their first lead of the night on a free kick from junior back Paige Medeiros.
- In the second half, red shirt freshman forward Josefine Stendahl would give the Yellow Jackets a comfortable lead, scoring an impressive goal on a shot across from the right side to the left post. Junior forward Jocylyn Deome earned an assist on the play.
- AIC would hold on to that lead, beating Stonehill and improving to 4-3 on the season.
BUZZWORTHY:
- The Yellow Jackets won their first home game of the season.
- Frew has a team-best four assists in six games this season; she had four career assists coming into the season.
- AIC's defense held strong after the first goal against, keeping Stonehill to just four shots on goal over the final 73 minutes after conceding three in the first 17; freshman back Florin-a Ravundra and junior back Alanna Gracia in particular were able to frustrate the Skyhawks attack.

- "It was a total team effort. We definitely finished our chances today, unlike our last game. It was exactly what we worked on yesterday," head coach Kevon Isa said after the game.
