HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC carried the play early on, outshooting the hosts 4-0 through the first 21 minutes before the Mavericks could put the ball on target.

  • In the second half, AIC finally broke through, scoring off of a penalty corner of its own as Holmquist fired a shot from the left side of the circle into the net for the team's first goal of the year at 42:11.
  • The hosts battled back, as Angela Robbins took advantage of a turnover to score on a breakaway and tie the game at 47:39; she then had the insert on the corner that turned into the winning goal, setting up Kayly Bryan's tally at 51:22.

PLAYER'S CORNER:
  • "We played strongly as a team, moved the ball up the field as a unit, and made sure to use each other and communicate well. Although we didn't come out on top, we did a lot of great things today and can only improve from here," Holmquist said after the match.
