HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Warriors struck early, as Colleen Ellis one-timed a cross-pass from Mary McNeil to the cage at 1:29; McNeil and Ellis would each score to make it 3-0 before the game reached the 8:00 mark.
  • AIC settled in after that, but the only goal the rest of the period came from Lindsey Nolte at 32:29.
  • In the second half, the Warriors kept pounding away; Stone made stop after stop, and it took Merrimack getting a manpower advantage due to an AIC yellow card before Isabelle Duseau scored the fifth Merrimack goal at 51:20.
  • Davis, who made a defensive save in the second half, then netted her first of the year, wiring home a shot on a corner from senior back Nichara Condo at 66:19.
  • The Warriors responded in kind with a corner goal of their own, as MCNeil set up Alex Mondini just 1:23 later.
  • Merrimack had one more chance to score on a final corner, but a second defensive save by Davis prevented a seventh goal.
PLAYER'S CORNER:
  • "I think that we improve on things each time we step on the field. Some of the things we worked on came through today. Now it's just a matter of putting them together for a full seventy minutes and finishing in the offensive circle," Davis said of the game, adding that "I think things will come together next time and I think Stonehill is in for a surprise."
NEXT UP:
  • AIC heads home for a nonconference matchup against No. 2 Stonehill on Wednesday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
