BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut- The American International College women's soccer team opened the season on the road against the University of Bridgeport. The start of the Yellow Jackets' season did not go as planned as the Purple Knights defeated AIC, 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• AIC started the game off strong, as redshirt freshman forward Josefine Stendahl ripped a shot off the post within the first three minutes of the match.
• During the first half, both goalkeepers had a strong showing in the net. AIC redshirt junior goalkeeper Mikayla Demanche made a tremendous diving save off a free kick just outside the top of the box in the 15th minute.
• Maegen Doyle scored the first goal of the game, just three seconds into the second half.
• The Purple Knights continued to find the back of the net, as Nara DeCosta scored two goals in the 56th and 67th minute.

• The Yellow Jackets will stay in Bridgeport, Connecticut and compete against the Mercy College Mavericks on Sunday, September 2nd at 6 p.m.
