IRVINE, California- The American International College volleyball team wrapped up their opening weekend in California on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State-L.A.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE:
- The Broncos jumped out to a 5-0 start before extending it to 12-3 that forced head coach Matt Cribbin to call his second time out of the set. The Broncos kept running as they took the first set 25-13.
- Up 2-1, Cal Poly Pomona went on a 9-1 run before the Yellow Jackets took a timeout. Every time the Yellow Jackets tried to get something going, the Broncos hit back harder as they took the second set 25-8.
- AIC took their first lead of the match, 2-1, in the third set. Cal Poly Pomona then retook the lead and made it a 14-7 game before AIC cut their deficit to three, 14-11. Down 23-16, the Yellow Jackets tried to make a late push, but it would not be enough, as the Broncos took the set, 25-19.
GAME TWO:
- The Golden Eagles jumped out to the early 5-1 lead before the Yellow Jackets made it a two-point game, 5-3. Down 11-6 AIC went on a 3-0 run to bring the game back within two. Cal State-L.A. ended the set on a 10-3 run to take the set 25-15.
- AIC started off the second set with a 4-1 lead. The Golden Eagles took the lead over 8-7 before the Yellow Jackets retook it at 13-12. Down 20-16, AIC fought to make it a 24-23 game before the Golden Eagles took the set 25-23.
- Down 8-6, the Yellow Jackets made a small push to take the 10-9 lead. The Golden Eagles answered by taking four of the next five points to take the 13-11 lead. Trailing 21-16, AIC made it a two-point game, 21-19, but the Golden Eagles once again took four of the next five points to take the set 25-20.
GAME NOTES:
- SeniorDiva Rivas-Reyesjumped into fifth place in program history in kills with her 10-kill performance against the Eagles of Concordia. She currently sits at 956, 46 shy of Jamie Hutchison.
- The Yellow Jackets had their lowest amount of service errors this season with two. The last time they had two or fewer service errors was at Assumption last season on November 7 when they had two.
