Men's lacrosse loses matchup with Saint Anselm

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's lacrosse team was a dealt a tough 19-4 loss at home by Saint Anselm College on Friday, April 6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Hawks wasted no time as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 13:52 of the contest. Patrick Sweeney produced two of the goals, his 14th and 15th goals of the season.
  • After St. Anselm scored four more goals in the second quarter to build a 12-0 cushion, the Yellow Jackets were able to get on the board at the 2:11 mark of the quarter. Freshman attacker Rawill Herrera earned his 20th goal of the season off a man-up goal. The two teams then traded goals to go into halftime. Sophomore attacker Matt Quinlan was able to give AIC its second goal with the assist from junior midfielder Quinn Caesar.
  • In the third quarter, it was all about the Hawks, as they scored five consecutive goals to increase their lead to 18-2.
  • Just over two minutes after Saint Anselm racked up another goal, the Yellow Jackets netted their third goal of the contest off of sophomore midfielder's Jack Shaughnessy's shot to be down 19-3. Senior attacker Jack McIntyre was able to give AIC its fourth goal of the game with 9:39 left in regulation. Neither team would score again for the remainder of the contest as the Hawks would cruise to the 19-4 victory.

  • AIC continues its homestand on Friday, April 13 when the Yellow Jackets host Saint Michael's College for an NE10 matchup at 4 p.m.
