HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Adelphi got on the board first in the bottom of the third, AIC tied the game in the top of the fourth at 1-1. Sophomore right fielder Matt Krause led off the inning with a double, and later moved to third on a groundout. Krause then scored on an RBI single from freshman catcher Will Johnson.
- The Panthers answered quickly to regain the lead, however, leading off the bottom of the fourth with a home run to take a 2-1 edge. Adelphi later made it 3-1 in the sixth inning.
- AIC responded with two runs in the seventh to tie the game again. After back-to-back walks were issued to redshirt junior second baseman Trent Dillon and junior shortstop Brendan Carter, junior center fielder Josh Aviles hit a single up the middle to load the bases with nobody out. An ensuing double from sophomore designated hitter Matt Costanza sent two across home plate to knot the score at 3-3.
- Adelphi's pitchers kept AIC off the board further, however, and the Panthers' bats added three more total runs during the seventh and eighth to win the contest 6-3.
