Roy breaks caused turnovers record in women's lacrosse loss to No. 3 Dolphins

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College women's lacrosse team fell at home 20-1 to No. 3 Le Moyne College on Tuesday, April 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Dolphins came out of the gates strong, scoring six goals in the first 7:54 of the contest. At the 18:07 mark of the first half, junior midfielder Mary Bates found the net to put the Yellow Jackets on the board and have the score at 6-1. Le Moyne would go on to score eight more goals in the first half to have a comfortable 14-1 advantage at halftime.
  • In the second half, freshman Allina Retana would replace sophomore starting goalie Chelsea Davis and record seven saves in the remaining 30 minutes of action. In the frame, the Dolphins would add six more goals to their lead and cruise to a 20-1 victory over AIC.

ROY BREAKS THE RECORD:
  • With her caused turnover in the first half, redshirt sophomore defender Allison Roy surpassed the record for most turnovers caused in a single season in Yellow Jackets history.
  • Roy has caused 31 turnovers in 15 games, tops in the NE10.

UP NEXT:
  • The Yellow Jackets will be back at Ronald J. Abdow Field on Saturday, April 21 for an 6 p.m. start on senior night against Saint Michael's College.
