HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Golden Knights raced out to a 5-0 lead just 5:14 in, as Carter Badour set up the game's opening tally and then scored the next three, while Liam Knehr tallied a goal and added two assists on Badour's goals early on. By the end of the first, the visitors had built up a 7-0 edge.
- Saint Rose kept adding to the lead early in the second, taking it to 9-0 at the 2:42 mark of the period. After that, the scoring slowed until the final ninety seconds; freshman attacker Rawill Herrera scored with 1:26 left, but Badour responded before the break for a 10-1 halftime edge.
- The third quarter was stagnant for both teams, with the fewest shots in the game; senior attacker Colton Larkin scored the only goal of the frame for either side at 7:51.
- In the fourth, the teams traded tallies, with Saint Rose opening and closing the scoring and Herrera burying a pair of goals split by Badour for the 13-4 final.
FRESHMEN PHENOMS:
- Herrera and his fellow freshman, goalkeeper Jacob Ortiz, rank near the top of the leaderboard in the NE10.
- Herrera's hat trick gives him 15 goals on the season in nine games, one fewer than senior attacker Jack McIntyre's team-high 16 last season. He leads all freshmen in the conference in goal scoring and sits fifth among all players.
- Ortiz stopped 18 shots last night, bringing him to 144 saves total, which leads AIC and the NE10, and is second only to Ryan Kearney of Mars Hill at 150 saves in nine games.
