HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Panthers opened the scoring in the first half, as Kerianne Scorce ran through the AIC defenses and buried a shot on a one-on-one at 32:12 for her tenth of the season.
- In the second half, AIC leveled the score. Redshirt freshman midfielder Anniina Sankoh's initial bid was denied by Adelphi goalkeeper Krista Aliscio, but senior midfielder Johanna Englund followed up the rebound and slotted it inside the left post at 70:53 for her second of the season.
- Neither team scored in the first extra session, but early in the second overtime, an Adelphi foul gave Frew an opportunity for a free kick, and the captain did not miss, striking home her fifth of the year in the right upper corner at 101:46 to end the game in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
FREW CAN DO:
- Frew's goal was her second game-winning marker of the campaign.
- She has netted 11 game-deciding tallies in her career, the second-most of any player in AIC women's soccer history. Only current women's basketball coach Kristen Patterson '02, with 14, has scored more in the program's history.
COACH'S CORNER:
- "The ladies knew what this game meant for us," head coach Kevon Isa said after the match, noting that "Two goals from two seniors shows great leadership from them."
PLAYOFF PICTURE:
- AIC sits in ninth in the NE10, two points behind Adelphi for the final playoff spot but with the tiebreaker.
- The Yellow Jackets next face Saint Michael's College on October 27, while the Panthers host Assumption College, with both games kicking off at 1 p.m. AIC needs a win and an Adelphi tie or loss to make the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
