HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets nearly struck first as a breakout play to senior forward Devyn O'Connor, but her shot was steered just wide of the cage by Skyhawks goalkeeper Sara Freedman.
- Stonehill was able to take advantage of a breakaway to open the scoring as Kacie Smith netted the opening tally at 10:53.
- Weather forced a delay just shy of the fifteen-minute mark of the first half. Out of the break, the Skyhawks struck again, as Smith tied the NE10 goals record with her second of the game at 25:06; the 2-0 score stood at the break.
- Within the first two minutes of the second half, Smith had two further bids on goal that were turned aside by freshman goalkeeper Jessica Stone, the latter a sliding stop on a breakaway for her 10th save of the game.
- Stone made another key stop with just over nine minutes gone in the half, and the rebound was pulled off the goal line by senior back Nichara Condo. However, on a subsequent penalty corner, Smith completed the hat trick for her 99th career goal.
- Almost immediately after, the Skyhawks added another as Smith set up Carly Andersen for a deflection in front at 44:52.
- Stonehill made it 5-0 with a goal by Olivia Cameron at 63:51, putting in a rebound of a Smith shot to close out the scoring.
ANOTHER STELLAR DAY FOR STONE:
- Stone tied her career high with 17 stops in the setback.
- She had previously established that number as her top performance in the team's game on September 12 at Merrimack.
- Stone has made at least 15 saves in four different games this season.
