Volleyball, Penmen meet in Friday night showdown

TheAmerican International College volleyball team returns home on Friday, October 19 when it hosts Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference action.

LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • The Yellow Jackets and Penmen met last season on October 3 in Manchester, New Hampshire. AIC took the five-set match, 3-2 (14-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-25, 16-14) (Recap)
  • Then-sophomore Jana Potic led the Yellow Jackets with 14 kills, while then-senior Annie Boele had 13 kills and 15 digs. Then-junior setter Dolores Kopren had 25 assists and 14 digs, while then-senior Mercy Rivera had 25 digs.

BUZZWORTHY:
  • Senior setter Dolores Kopren won her third straight NE10 Setter of the Week award on Monday, October 15. Last week, Kopren helped the Yellow Jackets go 3-1. She had 144 assists (10.29 per set), 40 digs (2.86), 12 aces (0.86) and four blocks (0.29).
  • With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, Rivas-Reyes became the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She is currently in third place in program history with 1,192 kills. She trails Ellisha Terry, who had 1,286 kills from 2008-11.
  • Potic recorded her 1,000th career kill at Adelphi on September 29. She also recently jumped into fifth place in program history in kills. She currently has 1,125 kills, trailing her teammate, Rivas-Reyes.
  • Potic jumped ahead of Rivas-Reyes in total points in program history on October 2 at Franklin Pierce. Potic currently sits at 1,306.5 points while Rivas-Reyes has 1,252 points. Potic currently trails Neaves, who scored 1,335 points in her career at AIC.
