SYRACUSE, New York- The American International College volleyball team continued Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday, October 16 at Le Moyne College. The Yellow Jackets toppled the Dolphins, 3-1, as they extended their NE10 winning streak to six games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Trailing 12-10 in the first set, the Yellow Jackets went on a 5-0 run to force a Dolphin timeout. While the Dolphins earned the next point, AIC answered by taking the next five points to take a 20-13 lead. Le Moyne answered with a 6-0 run of their own to make it a one-point game. Tied at 21, AIC went on a 4-0 run that sealed the set thanks in part to a block from senior setter Dolores Kopren and sophomore middle blocker Victoria Perini.
The Dolphins trailed 23-19 in the second set as they went on a 5-0 run to have set point, 24-23. AIC battled back and tied the game before the two teams traded some points back and forth. Down 29-28, the Yellow Jackets took three straight points, including another block, this time by senior outside hitter Diva Rivas-Reyes and redshirt freshman middle blocker Claudia Gonzalez, to take set two, 31-29.
AIC took a 22-20 lead in the third set when the Dolphins fought back with their backs against the wall. Le Moyne rallied for five points on their way to a 25-22 set win over AIC.
Tied at seven in the fourth, AIC started to pull away with a five-point run. Just moments later, a 6-0 run gave AIC the 18-9 lead on its way to a 25-14 set win to take the match, 3-1.
BUZZWORTHY:
With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, Rivas-Reyesbecame the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She is currently in third place in program history with 1,192 kills. She trailsEllisha Terry, who had 1,286 kills from 2008-11.
Potic recorded her 1,000th career kill at Adelphi on September 29. She also recentlyjumped into fifth place in program history in kills. She currently has 1,125 kills. She currently trails her teammate, Rivas-Reyes.
Potic jumped ahead of Rivas-Reyes in total points in program history on October 2 at Franklin Pierce. Potic currently sits at 1,306.5 points while Rivas-Reyes has 1,252 points. Potic currently trails Neaves, who scored 1,335 points in her career at AIC.
