WILMINGTON, Delaware - The American International College volleyball team earned its first single-day multigame sweep of the season, beating the Griffins of Chestnut Hill, 3-1, and the Wilmington Wildcats, 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE:
- AIC trailed in the first set, 12-6, before going on an 8-0 run to take its first lead of the match. This included two service aces by Dolores Kopren and four kills by Diva Rivas-Reyes.
- To end the first set, AIC took six of the last seven points. Kopren and Ada Guilera Martinez each had a service ace.
- In the second set, AIC had the 17-16 lead after a short Chestnut Hill run. The Yellow Jackets finished the match on an 8-2 run and took the second set 25-18.
- Chestnut Hill took an early 8-4 lead in the third set. The Griffins was one point away from taking the set, 24-19, but the Yellow Jackets started a rally. They took the next four points to make it 24-23. The Griffins ended up taking the set 25-23 to force a fourth game.
- AIC started the fourth set on a 14-4 run forcing a Griffin timeout. The Griffins would fight back and make it a one point game, 20-19. The two teams battled, but the Yellow Jackets took the set 25-22 and the match 3-1.
GAME TWO:
- The Yellow Jackets came out hot in the first set. They took the first six points before the Wildcats rallied to back to cut their deficit to one, 8-7.
- AIC answered back with a 10-1 run to take the 18-8 lead. The Yellow Jackets took the first set by a score of 25-19.
- The second set was a back and forth affair, but the Yellow Jackets prevailed by a score of 25-20.
- AIC was ready to win their second set of the season in straight sets. Although the host Wildcats kept it a tight set, AIC took the third set by a score of 25-20 and the match 3-0.
GAME NOTES:
- Rivas-Reyes is now ninth in all-time kills with 783. She is currently chasing Blair Havron, who has 793 career kills.
- Kopren moved past Ozoge Ozkan for sixth place in program history for assists.
- Rivera is now just 345 digs away from becoming the career leader in digs in program history.
