Football falls late to Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, New York The American International College football team lost to Pace University by a final score of 24-23 on Friday, September 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC opened the scoring with a 29-yard field goal from Jacob Tondel four minutes into the game.
  • Pace responded a little more than a minute later with an 87-yard touchdown run from Bien-Aime.
  • With less than three minutes to go in the first half, Jarvis linked up with Tommy Smith for a 40-yard touchdown pass, but the point after was blocked, making AIC's lead 9-7.
  • Pace rounded out the first-half scoring right at the end with a 30-yard field goal from Nick DiCairano to take a 10-9 lead into the break.
  • The third quarter was scoreless for 14 minutes, but Jarvis ended the dry spell with a one-yard touchdown for the Yellow Jackets.
  • Pace took the lead back with five minutes to go after a seven-yard rushing touchdown by Anerella.
  • Jarvis and Smith linked up again on a 29-yard touchdown pass with two minutes left in the game, but Pace responded less than a minute later with a two-yard touchdown run from Bien-Aime for the final score of the game, 24-23 Pace.
GAME NOTES:
  • AIC has given up 85-yard-plus touchdowns in consecutive games now.
  • Two receiving touchdowns in one game is a career-high for Smith.
