AIC ATHLETICS WEEKLY REPORT: Week of September 12th

LAST WEEK:
  • Volleyball went 4-0 on the week at the Wildcat Invite. Diva Rivas-Reyes was named to the All-Tournament team. (Day 1 Recap, Day 2 Recap)
  • Women's soccer went 1-0 this past week, with a 2-1 overtime win against Bentley. Jennifer Hackett recorded two assists, including the game-winner off the head of Rachel Brown. (Recap)
  • Men's rugby defeated UMass by a score of 97-0 on Sunday, September 10. Michele Magistrali scored 42 points in the match. (Recap)
  • Football dropped a close 31-21 game to the Warriors of Merrimack. Ju'an Williams had two receiving touchdowns and 143 total yards. Samad Davila ran for 98 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown. Jacquese Johnson and Devonte Dillion each had interceptions. (Recap)
  • Last week the men's soccer team went 0-1. The Yellow Jackets were scheduled to play Bridgeport at home, but Mother Nature had other ideas as the game was canceled. The game will not be made up. They fell 3-1 at Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, September 9. (Recap)
  • Field hockey dropped a 9-0 game at No. 5 Stonehill on Friday, September 8. (Recap) The team then dropped a close 1-0 game to Mercy College. (Recap)
  • Women's rugby dropped their game to Army West Point by a score of 76-20. Hilaria Lymas had two tries in the game. (Recap)
  • Tennis fell to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, September 9 at home by a score of 8-1 (Recap)
  • AIC to host 3rd Annual Athletics Golf tournament.

AWARDS:
  • Junior Michele Magistrali was named Florugby's National Player of the Week and one of two AIC Athletes of the Week.
  • Junior Diva Rivas-Reyes was named NE10 Volleyball Player of the Week and one of two AIC Athletes of the Week.
  • Junior Dolores Kopren was named NE10 Setter of the Week.

NOTEWORTHY:
  • Rivas-Reyes moved into eighth place in all-time kills with 803. She is currently chasing Bailey Swan who has 805 career kills.
  • Meri Jimeno-Vicente, a freshman on the tennis team, has now won both of her first two collegiate singles matches.
