SPRINGFIELD,Massachusetts The American International College women's lacrosse team defeated the Queens College Knights 17-5.

With the win, AIC moves to 1-1 overall. Queens moves to 0-1 overall.

The Yellow Jackets started the scoring quickly, with Mikayla Demanche scoring just 27 seconds into the first half, and Riley Brennan would follow up 16 seconds later to give AIC a 2-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets would let up a goal at 24:11 as Nicole Moniello scored her first of three on the afternoon to cut the lead in half. A barrage of goals from AIC would make it 8-1, as Mary Bates, Brennan, Kelsey Daniels, Demanche and Stefanie Dufresne were all able to help increase the lead. Queens would strike once more before the end of the first half as Mary Pat Gibble would score at 12:37 to make it an 8-2 game. AIC would control the rest of the half, as they would score five more, pushing their lead 13-2 after the first half.

Queens would be the first to score in the new frame, as Moniello would put one past Chelsea Davis in the first minute and a half at 28:49. The Jackets would respond with four of their own to make it 17-3. Queens would put score two late goals, but it would be too little too late, as AIC would hold on to win 17-5.

AIC will play its first NE10 matchup of the year as they host Adelphi University on Wednesday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m.
