The American International College men's lacrosse team travels to Adelphi University for a Northeast-10 matchup on Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT:The American International College men's lacrosse team posted a season-best seven goals in an 11-7 loss to Post University in non-conference play on March 1.
Down 1-0 early, junior attacker
Jack McIntyretied the game with his third of the year at 5:58, the final goal of the first frame. However, Post would come out swinging in the second, netting five straight before freshman
Jack Shaughnessy fired home his second of the season while man-up at 12:35; AIC cut the deficit to 6-3 just before the half as senior attacker
John Maglianotallied at 14:55.
Out of the break, junior midfielder
Colton Larkinburied a shot at 2:24 to bring AIC within two, but the Eagles responded with two goals of their own to go up 8-4 in the middle of the third. Refusing to quit, sophomore attacker
Quinn Caesarscored at 9:13, but again the Eagles netted one in reply. Larkin tallied again to end the third with AIC down just 9-6, and junior midfielder
Will Lewistook the fourth quarter draw straight forward to the goal for his first of the year just seven seconds into the final frame. However, Post scored the final two goals of the game for the 11-7 margin.

Matt Sayeghwas one off of his career high with 17 saves.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Caesar gave the team its first lead of the 2016 season, scoring the game's first goal, but No. 7 Adelphi put AIC away in Northeast-10 action at Abdow Field on March 5, 2016, winning by a score of 24-7.
Caesar notched his first career goal just 3:42 into the contest, an unassisted strike to give his Yellow Jackets their first lead of the season. The Panthers got things going quickly after. Senior Salvatore Tuttle fed freshman teammate Gordon Purdie, Jr. twice in a span of 17 seconds. The Panthers rattled off four straight to take control, 4-1, but
Magliano cut the deficit in half with his third of the season at the 3:34 mark in the first.
The Panthers would take over the game by outscoring AIC 18-5 the rest of the way.
Kevin Papineauhad his hand in on all three fourth quarter scoring tallies for AIC, assisting twice and scoring the game's final goal assisted by his brother,
Corey Papineau.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: Coming into this matchup, the Adelphi Panthers are 2-1 overall with all games coming against out of conference foes. Their lone loss came against Lynn University down in Boca Raton, FL where the Panthers lost 7-9. Adelphi was tied up at 7 at 10:21 in the fourth quarter after Michael Papach scored from Shane Deboer before the Fighting Knights scored two unanswered goals to give them the victory. Nicholas Racalbuto and Michael Osmundsen both have six goals for the Panthers this season.
RAISING THE BAR: AIC looks to improve on its best game of the year, with a game high for goals (7), shots attempted (38), shots on goal (18) along with setting a current season low in goals allowed (11).
STRENGTH IN NUMBERS: Outside of Magliano's four goals, the Yellow Jackets now have three players with three goals, two with two goals and three with one goal. In total, the Yellow Jackets have seen nine players score in the five game played this year.
