Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse hosts Post Eagles

The American International College men's lacrosse team will host Post University on March 1in a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matchup, seeking the team's first win of the season.

LAST TIME OUT: The offense struggled in a 16-3 loss against Saint Thomas Aquinas on February 25. The Spartans opened the scoring with the first four goals of the game before junior attacker Jack McIntyre buried back-to-back tallies off of assists from freshman attacker Sam Scarfo, both in the final minute of the opening quarter and the latter goal with less than a second on the clock. Scarfo would later add a goal of his own, but the Spartans would hold AIC off the board after that and tallied the final ten goals of the game.

Post dropped their season opener 17-8 to Chestnut Hill on February 25. The teams traded goals in the first quarter, ending the frame 3-3, but the Griffins dominated the second frame to take an 8-3 lead in the half. The visiting squad added another five in the third and four in the fourth, overwhelming the Eagles, who came up with two tallies in the third and three in the fourth. Frank Nichols Jr. and Mitchell Kenney each had two goals in the loss.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Post scored the first seven goals of the game en route to a 17-2 win at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 2, 2016. McIntyre scored AIC's first goal of the game, while Kevin Papineau had the final tally of the game with 1:53 left in regulation. Post outshot AIC 27-11 in the game.

A BIT FURTHER BACK: The last time the two teams met in Springfield, John Magliano scored his first goal of the season, and it proved to be the game winner in a 9-6 victory for AIC over the Eagles on February 27, 2015. McIntyre also scored his first collegiate goal in that game.

NEXT UP: The team returns to NE10 play with a matchup at Adelphi University on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m.
