NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College volleyball team hit the road for a match-up against the Owls of Southern Connecticut.
Mercy Rivera broke the program career digs record, but it was not enough, as the Owls took the match 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Owls started off the match by taking the 7-2 lead quickly. At one point, the Owls grew their lead to seven, 14-7. The Yellow Jackets rallied back and tied it at 21. Down 24-22, Pena-Martinez recorded a kill to make it 24-23. In total, SCSU had set point four times, but the Yellow Jackets persevered and AIC took the set, 29-27.
- The teams battled back and forth in the second set. Late in the set, with the score 20-20, the Owls went on a run to take a 24-22 lead. Though AIC scored the next point, there would be no further rally, with an error ending the set 25-23 in SCSU's favor.
- The third set was much like the second set early on. The turning point came after things were tied at 15, as the Owls went on a 10-2 run to go up 2-1 in the match.
- The Owls controlled the fourth, as they built a 20-14 edge. AIC tried to make a comeback, but the closest that the visitors could cut the lead to was 22-18. The Owls took set four, and the match.
GAME NOTES:
- Rivera is now your program career leader with 1,897 digs. Her dig on the final play of the night was the record breaking dig.
- Kopren now ranks fourth all-time in program history in assists, recently passing Dawn Richardson. She currently trails Katherine Dunford by 112 assists. At the rate she has posted this season, Kopren would reach this mark in 10 more sets.

- The Yellow Jackets will return home for a two game home stand. They will open it up with Bentley on Saturday, October 21st at 5 p.m.
