Men's basketball hits to road to take on Bentley

The American International College men's basketball team hits the road for their second of three straight road games when they take on the Falcons of Bentley on Saturday, January 14 at 3:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:The Ravens took the game by a score of 105-95. Bruce Spruellled the Yellow Jackets as he set a career high with 27 points. He shot 60 percent from the field (12-for-20) and 50 percent from behind the arc. Spruell also pulled down six boards and had nine assists.Justin Danielalso set a career high with 20 points and six rebounds.Rasheed Howardpulled down his first double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 boards. Rounding out the double-digit scorers wereTahlib Swanwith 13 andJuwan Moodywith 11. Swan was two rebounds shy of a double-double.
The Falcons are coming off back-to-back overtime games. On January 7, they hosted New Haven and protected their home court, 78-74. On Wednesday, January 11, the Falcons dropped an 88-82 game on the road at Adelphi. Ryan Richmond led the Falcons with 26 points and seven boards. Brandon Wheeler had 18 and Zach Gilpin had 17.

LAST TIME THEY MET:It was just under a month ago when the Falcons and Yellow Jackets met in a non-conference matchup in Butova Gym. The Yellow Jackets had won two straight games and were looking to extend their winning streak before winter break. The Yellow Jackets toughed out an 88-82 win. Moody led the game with 28 points as he shot 6-for-12 from three. Pitts-Young went off for 26 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 30 minutes of play.Bruce SpruellandJustin Danieleach had 11 points, and Spruell pulled down eight boards while Daniel had four rebounds and three steals.

TETRAD SCORERS:The Yellow Jackets have a tetrad of scorers in double digits. Leading the way is Javyon Pitts-Young with 13.6. Just half a point behind him is Moody at 13.1. Rounding out the four are Spruell and Swan with 12.4 and 11.6.

CUTTING IT CLOSE:In their seven wins this season, the Yellow Jackets have won by six points or less. The average point differential is just 3.25 points. Pitts-Young averages 15.9 points per game and four assists per game in the wins. Moody is right behind him at 15.0 points per game while shooting 41 percent on 58 attempts from behind the arc.

WINNING STREAK:The Yellow Jackets' loss against Assumption on January 1 snapped their four-game winning streak. During that streak, the Yellow Jackets' average margin of victory was 4.25 points. Their biggest wins were by six points over Bentley and Concordia-New York. Moody led the spur by averaging 19.5 points per game during the run. Pitts-Young averaged 14.3 points per game with 4.0 rebounds per game.Bruce SpruellandTahlib Swanboth averaged over 6.5 rebounds per game. Spruell also averaged 11.3 points per game while Swan recorded 6.8 points per game.

NEXT UP:The Yellow Jackets will travel to Manchester, New Hampshire, for a Wednesday night matchup against St. Anselm. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
