SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--American International College Women's Soccer continues their road trip through the East Coast Conference with a matchup at Mercy College as they seek their first win of the 2016 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT:The Yellow Jackets battled back from an early deficit against LIU Post but ultimately fell 2-1 in the second game of the season. After a Pioneers breakaway goal in the first minute put AIC in the hole, sophomore forward Johanna Englund blasted home her and the team's first of the season at 23:40 to give AIC a 1-1 draw. However, in the second half, LIU found the twine at 65:55, and AIC could not match again. The team's final three shot attempts in the last 24 minutes of play all missed the net in the loss. Sophomore keeper Madison Brown made a trio of stops in the loss.

Mercy likewise struggled offensively last time out in a 4-1 loss to Southern New Hampshire. They conceded the first tally of the game at 19:40 and found themselves in a 2-0 hole at exactly the 40:00 mark. However, thirty seconds after the Penmen netted that second goal, Lauren Calderaro responded with her first of the year, and the Mavericks entered halftime down only one. However, the Penmen regained the two-goal advantage on a corner kick in the 51st minute and held on despite a seven-shot barrage in the final frame, extending the lead to 4-1 in the 81st minute. Goalkeeper Ashley Price stopped five of the nine shots on goal she faced.

LAST TIME THEY MET:The Yellow Jackets were able to score the only tally of the matchup between the two sides last season, winning 1-0 on October 12, 2015 in Springfield. In the contest, sophomore midfielder Johanna Nilsson finished off a chance on a free kick from Romina Bell '16 at 70:15, the lone shot of eight that AIC put on target that made it home. On the other side, Rachel Edgin '16 turned back all four shots she faced in her eighth win of the season. The Jackets had a 4-2 edge in corners.

HAVE MERCY: Despite being in different conferences, most of the fall squads either have or will play Mercy. Men's Soccer fell 3-0 yesterday to the Mavericks, while Field Hockey will visit on September 14 and Volleyball will host Mercy on October 1.

UNCHARTED TERRITORY: WhileAIC has faced Mercy College in other sports fairly regularly, this will be the first time that Women's Soccer will ever make the trip to Dobbs Ferry. Last season's meeting was the first ever between the two women's soccer squads.

NEXT UP:AIC opens conference play with a matchup at Southern New Hampshire on September 14. Opening kickoff in Manchester is slated for 7:00 p.m.
