NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The American International College Women's Soccer team fell 2-1 to LIU Post in a hard-fought battle that featured several great chances for both teams.
The Jackets are now 0-2 on the young campaign.
The Pioneers got off to a fast start, as Isabella Fuduli scored on a breakaway just 0:59 into the contest, her first marker of the year, firing a shot home over the head of the goalkeeper.
However, AIC would equalize in the 24th minute, as sophomore
Johanna Englund (Gothenburg, Sweden) found the upper left corner of the net for her first as a Yellow Jacket at 23:40.
In the second half, LIU would regain the lead in the 66th minute, with the game-winning tally struck by Julia Duffy, who fired the shot home from the left side after a pass by Fuduli. The goal came at 65:55 and was Duffy's first of the campaign.
Sophomore
Madison Brown (Medford, N.Y.) kept her team in the game, turning aside a penalty shot by Klara Lindblom in the 72nd minute, but AIC did not manage to put any of their final three shot attempts on the target in the last fifteen of the game.
Brown falls to 0-2 on the season, despite stopping three shots and the penalty kick.
AIC returns to action Thursday September 8 when they visit Mercy College for a 4:00 p.m. start.
