RINDGE, New Hampshire - The American International College men's soccer team came from behind to beat Franklin Pierce University in double overtime, 2-1, in a conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
With 30 seconds left to play in the second overtime, freshman Jake Durham connected on a cross from senior Juan Correa to seal the victory.
"It just came toward me," Durham said. "I was in the right place at the right time. I missed the header about two seconds before, but the ball came back to us so I just tapped it in."
AIC improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in Northeast-10 play.
With the Yellow Jackets trailing 1-0 after a goal in the first half from Franklin Pierce's Noam Kolakofsky, AIC senior Lasse Olrik blasted in a shot with nine minutes remaining in regulation to tie things up at 1-1.
Durham had another chance to put away the game with about three and a half minutes left in the first overtime frame, but his shot rolled just wide of the net.
As a whole, the Yellow Jackets swarmed Ravens goaltender Jadel Poon-Lewis, with eight of their 16 total shots going on net. Senior goalkeeper Sebastian Tamayo had three saves in the contest for AIC.
The Yellow Jackets return home on Saturday for their next matchup, set for 7 p.m. against Southern New Hampshire University.
