SPRINGFIELD, Mass. American International College freshman Andrew Brown (Swanzey, N.H.) netted a career-high three goals, but men's lacrosse fell to Saint Michael's College in the final Northeast-10 Conference contest of the season for the Yellow Jackets, 21-9.
With the loss AIC falls to 0-14 and finishes league play with a record of 0-11. With the win, St. Mike's improves to 4-9 overall and 2-8 in the NE-10.
AIC junior Eric Overdahl (Milford, Mass.) also had a stellar day for the Jackets, netting four goals including AIC's first in the first. Overdahl added a man-up goal in the second, but his Jackets took a lofty 16-3 deficit into the intermission.
In the third frame, AIC held St. Mike's to a pair of goals, and was able to rattle off four straight of their own. Junior defenseman Luke Allen (Amherst, Mass.) opened the rally with his first goal of the season. Overdahl netted a pair, while the team-leader in points, Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) registered his team-leading 18th goal of the year.
St. Mike's Tim Connor led the Purple Knights with eight points including six helpers. The Knights heavy-hitters, Brian Loughlin and Mark Yetter chipped in seven and six points, respectively.
AIC junior goalie John Magliano (Upton, Mass.) made nine saves in the losing effort. Matt Hanley picked up his second win of the season for the Knights, making six stops.
AIC closes out the 2016 slate Saturday, April 30 at home against Georgian Court University in a non-conference tilt with the Cougars. Game-time is slated to start at 1 p.m. from Abdow Field with a Senior Day ceremony to take place prior to the opening faceoff.
