Men's Lacrosse Doubled-Up By SNHU, 22-11

MANCHESTER, N.H. American International College junior Kevin Papineau led the way with four points, but men's lacrosse fell in Northeast-10 Conference road action at Southern New Hampshire University Tuesday night, 22-11.

With the loss AIC falls to 0-13 overall and 0-10 in league play, while with the win SNHU improves to 6-4 and 5-3 in NE-10 action.

The Yellow Jackets struck first off a freshman Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) scoring strike just 2:31 into the contest. The goal was his eighth of the season.

SNHU flew ahead, rattling off five straight goals before AIC freshman Hunter Cooney (Rochester, Mass.) registered his fifth of the season. The Penmen finished off the first frame with another three goals to take an 8-2 edge into the second stanza.

The Yellow Jackets tightened up a little on defense to open the second, allowing just a single goal to Penmen scoring leader Cameron Joyce over the first 11:38 of play in the quarter. AIC ended the half on a 3-1 scoring run led by two junior Eric Overdahl (Milford, Mass.) scores. Overdahl's fifth and sixth goals of the season were assisted by classmate Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) and Bombardier.

Jacket sophomore Jack McIntyre (East Longmeadow, Mass.) netted his 13th goal of the season to end the half and cut the halftime deficit to six, 11-5.

Out of the break, Ails C allowed SNHU the first goal, but recorded three of the next four goals. McIntyre opened the second half scoring for the Jackets followed by Papineau and freshman Quinn Caesar (Dalton, Mass.) to cut the Penmen to five midway through the frame, 13-8.

Despite the early second half success, the Jackets led SNHU regain momentum with six consecutive goals powered by four Keifer Heckman.

With the Penmen up 11 in the fourth, Papineau netted his team-leading 17th goal of the year and second of the day to halt the run. Heckman added another goal and assist as part of three straight SNHU goals before Overdahl and McIntyre with their third goal each.

Papineau ended with a team-high four points, increasing his team-high in points for the season to 24. AIC junior goalie John Magliano (Upton, Mass.) made 12 saves and assisted a goal.

The Yellow Jackets have some time off before hosting Saint Michael's College for the final NE-10 game of the year Saturday, April 23 at Abdow Field. Game time with the Purple Knights is scheduled for 1 p.m.
