RINDGE, N.H. The American International College men's lacrosse team fell in Northeast-10 actionto Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field, 16-5.
With the loss AIC falls to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in league play, while with the win Franklin Pierce improves to 3-2 and 2-1 in the NE-10.
It took just 21 seconds of gametime for the Ravens to sneak one in net as Luke Tracy scored his third of the season in the opening minute of play. AIC junior goalkeeper John Magliano (Upton, Mass.) and the Yellow Jackets defense tightened up a bit, but still left the half trailing 8-2.
Registering goals for AIC in the opening half was freshman Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) an unassisted goal, and classmate Andrew Brown (Swanzey, N.H.) in the final minute of the opening period.
FPU came out of the intermission with four straight scoring tallies before AIC rookie Hunter Cooney (Rochester, Mass.) found the back of the cage with 2:15 remaining in the third stanza. Bombardier and junior Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) each scored in the fourth. For Papineau it was his team-leading 11th goal of the season.
Magliano, in just his second start in net, made 21 saves in the losing effort. Casey Burnett fired a game-high four balls past Magliano for the Ravens. Jacket senior Michael Palmieri (Guilford, Conn.) was 13-21 in faceoffs for the game.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday, Mar. 29 when they travel to Pace University for a NE-10 clash. Game time with the Setters is scheduled for 7 p.m.
