Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Papineau Nets Three, But Men's Lax Falls at Pace, 23-7

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. American International College junior Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) netted three goals, but men's lacrosse fell in Northeast-10 road action at Pace University Tuesday night at Pace Stadium, 23-7.

With the loss AIC falls to 0-10 overall and 0-7 in conference clashes, while with the win Pace improves to 6-2 and 2-1 in the NE-10.

The Setters, who are receiving votes in the latest USILA Poll, got off to a torrid start, nettinf five quick goals in the opening 5:05 of play. Setter Liam Brennan found teammate Kevin Vogelsburg three times in the first two minutes of action to pace the fast start.

Papineau ended the run with his first of three goals at the 7:04 mark of the first frame. Pace rattled off five more goals before the quarter was done to take a commanding 10-1 lead after 15 minutes of gameplay.

AIC sophomore Jack McIntyre (East Longmeadow, Mass.) opened the second with a 16th minute goal assisted by freshman Quinn Caesar (Dalton, Mass.). The Jackets held Pace to just four goals the rest of the half and took a 14-2 deficit into the halftime huddle.

American International produced it's best offensive quarter of the tilt in the third, scoring three goals and allowing five. Freshman Lucas Bombardier (Pittsford, Vt.) registered his fifth of the year, a man-up goal to halt a seven-goal Setter run that started in the second stanza.

Interim Head Coach Tim Robbins relieved reserve goalie John Magliano (Upton, Mass.) of his duties and sent him back on attack. The junior quickly repaid his coach with a man-up goal late in the third. Papineau netted a last minute strike and opened the fourth with another to cut the Pace lead to 19-6. Caesar added his 10th of the year and second point of the day in the final minutes.

Magliano made 11 saves in nearly 57 of action in cage as Pace outshot AIC, 55-21.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Wednesday, Apr. 6 at home when they host the College of Saint Rose in a NE-10 clash. Gametime with the Golden Knights is slated to start at 4 p.m.
