The American International College field hockey team looks to snap a short losing skid as they play host to the Pace Setters at Abdow Field.

LAST TIME OUT: The Yellow Jackets could not dig themselves out of an early hole against the Adelphi Panthers, falling 3-1 in a game that saw all four goals in the first half. The Panthers struck twice in the first 13 minutes to take a 2-0 lead before AIC got on the board with freshman midfielder Jenny Holmquist's first career goal. However, the Panthers would regain the two-goal edge less than three minutes later and took the 3-1 lead into halftime. Neither team scored in a second half that saw just three shot attempts per side.

Pace scored a late goal in each half to earn a 2-1 win over Franklin Pierce in their most recent outing. The Setters struck in the final minute of the first frame on a tally by Jane Kasparian, and then after the Ravens tied the contest in the fifty-third minute, Jenna Sanossian scored the winner in the sixty-fifth minute, finishing a play on a penalty corner to elevate her side to victory. Both teams managed four shots on target in the game.

LAST TIME THEY MET: Paige Montague had the only goal of the game as AIC topped Pace 1-0 in overtime. The teams combined for sixteen shots on target before Montague's eighty-first minute goal hit the back of the cage on an assist from forward Liv Magni. Taylor Ross earned her first career shutout in the victory, stopping seven shots in the win.

NINE, NINE, NINE: For the third week in a row, the Yellow Jackets are ranked ninth in the nation in the NFHCA Coaches' Poll. Fellow Northeast-10 squads LIU Post (first), Stonehill (fifth), Saint Anselm (seventh), and Adelphi (tenth) are also ranked in the poll. The Pioneers picked up 18 of the 20 first place votes in the poll.

CLOSING IN ON 100: Since the program's inception in 1996, AIC field hockey has earned 98 wins. Most of those wins have come in the last decade, with 67 of them since 2009, when now-Head Coach Ashley Mazzoli was brought onto the coaching staff as the lead assistant. Each of the program's six winningest seasons-including the present one-have happened with her behind the bench.

NEXT UP: AIC heads to Merrimack on Saturday for an evening matchup against the Warriors. The game starts at 6:00 p.m.
