SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College football team was shut out by the University of New Haven, 35-0, on Saturday afternoon at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
Prior to the game, AIC's 11 seniors were recognized in a Senior Day ceremony: Christopher Boteler, Marcel DePina, Davonte Ginyard, Omari Manhertz, Manny McClain, Jerrod Shelby, Calvin Stanley, and team captains Raymond Durrett, Evan Graham, Daquan Holmes and Danny Omoregie.
Holmes highlighted Senior Day with an interception and return for 25 yards in the third quarter, recording his fourth of the year and tying the Northeast-10 record for career interceptions at 19.
Omoregie had 12 tackles on the day, while Shelby added 11 tackles. Manhertz also added eight tackles.
Boteler had 10 punts for a total of 387 yards, with his longest of the day going for 50 yards.
New Haven got on the board first with a touchdown with 34.7 seconds remaining in the first quarter, and added three more touchdowns in the half, including off a blocked punt, to enter the locker room with a 28-0 lead.
The Chargers added another touchdown just three minutes into the third quarter, pushing the lead to 35-0.
AIC was shut out for the first time since October 16, 2010, which was a 13-0 loss also to New Haven.
The Yellow Jackets will conclude the regular season on November 5, when they travel to face Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.
