WORCESTER, Massachusetts- The American International College football team traveled down the Mass Pike to Worcester to take on the Greyhounds of Assumption College. Despite holding the number two team in the conference to seven points in the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Greyhounds, 31-3.
The Yellow Jackets started the game on defense and forced a quick three-and-out. The Yellow Jackets would give the ball away on their first drive by way of interception. The Greyhounds took advantage of the Yellow Jacket mistake and went 53 yards on nine plays to take the 7-0 lead.
On the next possession, the Yellow Jackets answered with a 32-yard field goal by
Christopher Boteler. The Greyhounds had the ball with 11:22 in the second quarter when they started their next scoring drive. They marched down the field in 14 plays and 68 yards to make it a 14-3 game. The Greyhounds went on to add a field goal before the half to make it 17-3.
The Greyhounds went on to score seven points in each the third and fourth quarter to the game by a score of 31-3.
The Yellow Jackets completed just three passes on the day, all three coming from
Joseph Czelusniak. Czelusniak threw for 59 yards and one interception. Quarterback
Adam Salvadori led the team in rushing yards with 50 on 10 attempts.
Jerrod Shelby led the team in tackles with 11 while
Jacquese Johnson,
Daquan Holmes, and
Azeem Cooper each had nine.
Boteler led the kicking attack for the Yellow Jackets with nine punts for 311 yards, averaging 34.6 yards per punt.
The Yellow Jackets will host Saint Anselmon Saturday at noon for the season finale.
