SYRACUSE, N.Y. American International junior guard Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.) registered a team-high 26 points, but men's basketball fell in their road finale at Le Moyne's Ted Grant Court, 86-77.
With the loss AIC falls to 19-6 overall and 14-5 in Northeast-10 action, while with the win Le Moyne improves to 15-12 and 9-10, snapping a four-game losing skid. With Southern Connecticut's win at St. Rose, the Yellow Jackets clinch the NE-10 Southwest second seed in the Conference Championship.
Down 13 with 3:17 to go, the Yellow Jackets turned to their sharpshooter, junior guard Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.), who hit two 3-pointers, part of a 7-0 AIC run to pull within six with just under two minutes left.
After a Le Moyne free throw, senior D.J. Gutridge (Neptune, N.J.) got a layup and Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) knocked down a free throw on the team's next possession to extend the AIC run to 8-1, but the Dolphins netted the final five points of the contest to hang on for their second win over AIC this season.
The Yellow Jackets took a four point advantage into the halftime break, but an 11-0 run midway through the second half propelled by three straight Qwadere Lovell 3's gave Le Moyne a four point lead, 60-56, and momentum back.
Lovell added three points in another 5-0 run to put AIC in an 11-point hole. Le Moyne never trailed the rest of the way.
Dobbs finished with six from beyond the arc, while Burrell finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Senior Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) had a career day, tallying 17 points, nine boards, nine assists and seven steals.
AIC ends the regular season at home Tuesday, Feb. 24 when Northeast-10 Southwest Division Regualr Season Champs Southern Connecticut comes to Butova. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
