SYRACUSE, N.Y. The American International College men's basketball team dropped a Northeast-10 Southwest Division game at Le Moyne College Saturday afternoon at ted Grant Court, 86-69.
With the loss, AIC falls to 1-7 and 0-4 in NE-10 play, while with the win Le Moyne improves to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in conference games.
Trailing 66-52 midway through the second, an old fashioned three-point play by senior Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) started an 8-0 Yellow Jacket run to cut the deficit back to single digits, 66-58. However, the Dolphins had an answer, rattling off a 10-0 run of their own, keeping AIC from scoring over a span of 3:36.
AIC freshman Jayvon Pitts-Young (Portland, Maine) hit a trey to end the first half for the jackets and got another to start the second and cut the lead back to 10, 45-35, to start the second half, but Le Moyne only let American International get as close as six in the final stanza.
AIC sophomore Nolan Woodward (Quebec, Montreal) scored eight of his team-high 13 in the second half. The Jackets had five players in double figures, Dobbs, Pitts-Young and junior Max Risch (Marion, Mass.) with 11 and Burrell chipped in 10 points.
Dolphin Tyquan Rolon netted a team-high 30 points as Le Moyne shot 53.6 percent from the floor.
The Yellow Jackets returns to action Thursday, Dec. 17 at home against Goldey-Beacom. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
