SYRACUSE, N.Y. The American International College baseball team dropped a one-run, Northeast-10 affair to Le Moyne College Friday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field.
With the loss AIC falls to 15-24 and 7-19 in NE-10 play, while with the win Le Moyne improves to 17-22 and 11-9 in conference play.
The Dolphins jumped on top 2-0 in the bottom of the first, a single off of AIC starter Harrison Paige (Springfield, Mass.) plated two Le Moyne runners.
In the ensuing half inning, senior Cam MacDonald (Weymouth, Mass.) grounded out to short, but junior right fielder David Kerlezja (Unionville, Conn.) scampered home, cutting the deficit to one run.
Later in the order, sophomore second baseman Brett Bohl (Ludlow, Mass.) singled to center, plating left fielder Tyler Geffert (Hopedale, Mass.). Both runs unearned, but the game was knotted at two apiece, giving Paige life on the hill.
Geffert sent the go-ahead run home with RBI hit to center field, scoring first baseman Lucas Vallas (East Northport, N.Y.) in the fourth, but the Dolphins answered in the home half.
Le Moyne plated the eventual winning run in the fifth and the AIC bats went silent.
Paige left in the seventh, suffering his fourth loss of the season (4-4). He struck out four and walked just one. Colin Sledzik (Higganum, Conn.) pitched an inning of relief, allowing no runs and a single hit.
The Yellow Jackets take on Le Moyne in a doubleheader from Syracus Saturday, first pitch is slated for noon.
