RINDGE, N.H. The American International baseball team dropped two at Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon in a non-divisional Northeast-10 contest, 4-3 and 15-8.
With the two losses AIC falls to 6-15 and 1-10 in the NE-10.
Harrison Paige (Springfield, Mass.) pitched all eight of game one, striking out five and allowing just two earned. The Yellow Jackets plated a single run in each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.
Left fielder Tyler Geffert (Hopedale, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while senior center fielder Dan Asselin (Chicopee, Mass.) batted 2-for-5. AIC outhit the Ravens 8-7 in the game.
Two big innings downed the Yellow Jackets in the finale, a six run third and five run sixth.
AIC managed four ninth inning runs, taking advantage of the loaded bases, walking in two runs.
Asselin led the charge, batting 3-for-4 with two runs. He finished the day hitting 6-of-9 from the plate.
Colin Sledzik (Higganum, Mass.) suffered the loss, falling to 0-2 this season. He struck out three over 5.0 innings, allowing three earned off five hits.
The Yellow Jackets head to Southern New Hampshire tomorrow for a doubleheader with the Penmen beginning at noon from Manchester, N.H.
