In the opening 8-4 loss, the Yellow Jackets led 2-0 after two single runs innings.
Lucas Vallas (East Northport, N.Y.) launched a solo homer to center field in the second, while Dan Fenton (Agawam, Mass.) singled to right in the third, sending home Brett Bohl (Ludlow, Mass.) for the early 2-0 lead.
The Penmen went ahead in the bottom of the third with a three-run shot from Riley Palmer and added four more through six for an 8-2 edge.
AIC continued to be productive on the ninth, scoring twice, but the deficit was too large. Bohl knocked in both late runs with a double to center field, but Mike Coyne (El Cajon, Calif.) was thrown out trying to make third as Southern New Hampshire held on for the game one victory.
