WATERBURY, Conn. The American International men's basketball team earned its ninth win of the year over non-conference Post University behind 24 Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) points Wednesday afternoon, 75-66.
With the win AIC improves to 9-2 after finishing with nine total wins all of last season.
AIC held a two-point edge into the second half, up 29-27. The Yellow Jackets increased its lead by as many as 14 in the second half with 3:48 to go. Post tied it up in the early going, but once AIC got going they never trailed again.
Yellow Jacket junior Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.) chipped in 13 points with three 3-pointers, while senior Al-Shaba Jabateh (East Orange, N.J.) added 10 off the bench.
AIC's leading scorer Marcus Porter (New Castle, Del.) registered a team-high 10 boards and was a point shy of a double-double.
The team opened the first half shooting over 34 percent, but finished 44 percent after shooting 15-for-27 in the second frame.
The Jackets return home and to Northeast-10 play Saturday, Jan. 3 when Saint Rose comes to Springfield. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
