MANCHESTER, N.H.-Junior midfielder
Kaylin Harbin (Stroudsburg, Pa.) scored an early second half penalty stroke goal and senior forward
Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) tallied a pair of late goals to set a new standard for American International College field hockey in a 4-1 win over Southern New Hampshire.
AIC improves to 7-6 over and 3-3 in the Northeast-10.
The Jackets jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the twelfth minute as they fired nine of the first ten shots on goal, breaking through when freshman forward
Liv Magni (Sweet Valley, Pa.) popped home a rebound at 11:41 for her fourth of the season.
Though the visitors continued to pound the net, the Penmen battled back, and in the final minute of the half they drew a penalty stroke and scored, tying the game at 34:14.
However, out of the start of the second half, the Yellow Jackets swarmed, earning a stroke of their own which Harbin placed home for her second tally of the year at 38:20.
From there, it was all AIC, as the Jackets had six shots on goal and Harbin rang the post in the fifty-ninth minute. Masionis made it 3-1 with her eleventh of the season at 65:40 on a pass from sophomore forward
Taylor Ruscillo (Carle Place, N.Y.) and then Harbin set up Masionis for her twelfth of the year at 66:40.
In that 1:07 span, Masionis tied and then broke the career goals record set by Amanda McLean '12, with her thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth career goals. She now has 88 career points, also first all-time, and stands in striking distance of becoming the first Yellow Jacket to reach 100 points.
In all, the Jackets outshot the Penmen 39-6, including a 28-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, and had 17 corners while conceding just one. Junior
Ainslee Penfield (Greenfield, Mass.) improved to 7-6 by making three saves in the win.
AIC returns home Saturday when they host the Bentley Falcons at 4:00 p.m.
