Men's Basketball hangs on for 63-58 win at Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. - American International junior Marcus Porter's (New Castle, Del.) big double-double propelled AIC to a 63-58 Northeast-10 win over Stonehill Tuesday night at Merkert Gymnasium.

With the win AIC improves to 7-7 and 4-5 in conference, while with the loss Stonehill falls to 4-10 overall and 2-8.

Porter was hot from the opening tip-off, scoring 19 in the opening half on 7-of-10 shooting. He was also 5-for-6 from the free throw line and grabbed eight rebounds.

AIC's largest lead in the opening frame was just five as the two traded baskets for 20 minutes and saw five ties.

Stonehill kept Porter quiet in the second, but not before he added nine rebounds, finishing a solid 23 point, 17 rebound performance.

The Yellow Jackets extended the lead to as many as eight late in the second which proved to be enough to hold off the Skyhawks.

Senior guard Janek Schmidkunz (Berlin, N.J.) chipped in 14 with four deep balls. Junior guard Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) grabbed nine rebounds.

AIC returns to action Saturday, Jan. 18 when they play host to Bentley. Tip-off at Butova set for 3:30 p.m.
