SPRINGFIELD, Mass. The American International men's basketball team dropped a 78-64 decision to Northeast-10 foe Bentley Saturday afternoon in Butova Gymnasium.
With the loss AIC falls to 7-10 and 4-6 in conference play, while with the win the Falcons improve to 13-4 and 7-4 in the NE-10.
The Yellow Jackets played Bentley tight the first half, trailing just 39-37 at the break. The two traded baskets, each team's highest lead was four in the first.
Junior forward Marcus Porter (New Castle, Del.) led the team at the break with 11, but Falcon Tyler McFarland was a perfect 9-for-9 from the field with 24, including 4-for-4 from behind-the-arc.
AIC used 15 points off the bench in the first, as well as, a sizeable 26-10 advantage the paint, but Bentley was hitting from all over.
McFarland finished a perfect 12-of-12 from the field for a game-high 32.
Porter led the Jackets with a double-double, 17points and 10 boards, while classmate Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) chipped in 11 points.
AIC returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 22 when Merrimack comes to the Butova. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
