MANCHESTER, N.H. American International College men's basketball junior forward Marcus Porter (New Castle, Del.) net his 1,000 career point, but the Yellow Jackets fell to Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 tilt Saturday, 77-60.
With the loss AIC falls to 6-9 and 3-5 in the NE-10, while with the win the Penmen improve to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Porter tallied his 1,000 and 1,001 career point on a layup at the 12:06 mark of the first half, finishing with 11.
After a leak in the roof delayed the start by 45 minutes, the two got off to a slow start, just a 7-4 game after four minutes of play to open the game.
The Penmen held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in the final five minutes of play in the half, outscoring AIC 16-0 for a 40-24 lead at the break.
American International was only able to come within 16 as SNHU cruised in the second, even after relocating to a separate gym after the leak returned to the main gym.
Despite the drought to end the first half, AIC still managed to shoot over 51 percent from the floor.
Senior point Spencer Braithwaite (Dorcester, Mass.) led the team with 12, while Porter and junior Jason Perrier (Bridgeport, Conn.) notched 11 apiece.
Penmen Elijah Bonsignore had a game-high 21, hitting 3-of-4 from nehind-the-arc.
AIC returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 14 when they visit Stonehill. Tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
