Le Moyne Hangs On to Beat Baseball Team 5-4

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College baseball team dropped a 5-4 decision on Wednesday afternoon to the Le Moyne Dolphins at AIC Park. The Yellow Jackets move to 8-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Dolphins are now 8-11 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10.

Le Moyne jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when senior first baseman Kody O'Conner (Mexico, N.Y.) hit an RBI single.

The Yellow Jackets scored three run on four hits in the bottom of the third inning as senior Cam MacDonald (Weymouth, Mass.) hit an RBI single to center field, junior Dave Clark (West Springfield, Mass.) hit an RBI single through the left side, and Mike Coyne hit an RBI single through the right side to earn a 3-1 lead over the Dolphins.

Le Moyne put up two more runs in the fourth inning when senior catcher Brian Stinson (Binghamton, N.Y.) hit his first home run of the season to tie the contest at 3-3.

The Yellow Jackets pushed a run across in the sixth inning to regain the lead at 4-3. Coyne hit a single to right center and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Junior catcher Dan Fenton (Agawam, Mass.) hit a single and moved to second on a wild pitch and Coyne advanced to third. Coyne would cross home on senior Chris Amate's (Hanover, Mass.) single to center field.

Freshman shortstop Dylan Swetman (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) drove in the game-winning run with two outs in the eighth inning to give the Dolphins a 5-4 victory over AIC.

Freshman Frank O'Brien (Cream Ridge, N.J.) earned the win on the hill after throwing 1.1 innings and allowing two hits and striking out two, while junior Steven Pino took the loss the Yellow Jackets after throwing 1.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits out of the bullpen.
