Men's Basketball Efficient In Win At Bridgeport, 91-79

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The American International College men's basketball team shot 57.9% from the field, while three Yellow Jackets notched 20 points or more in a 91-79 non-conference win at Bridgpeort Wednesday afternoon.

With the win AIC improves to 2-3 overall, while with the loss the Purple Knights fall to 2-2 to start the season.

Senior guard Janek Schmidkunz (Berling, Germany) hit 7-of-11 threes on his way to netting 23. Bridgeport, Conn. native Jason Perrier returned to his hometwon and also tallied 23 points.

Perrier was an impressive 8-for-10 from the field, connecting on one of three from downtown.

Junior guard Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) chipped in 22 with three threes and eight assists.

In the first half American International hit 62.07 percent overall and 69.3 of their three pointers (9-for-13).

American International led by as many as 22 in the second half and cruised to victory.

The Yellow Jackets finished 52.2 percent from beyond the arc in an epic shooting performance that kept the Piurple Knight's at bay. Bridgeport forced 19 AIC turnovers compared to their 10, but when you shoot the ball as well as the Jackets did it is hard to keep up.

Senior forward Mark Ellis Jr. (Stamford, Conn.) led the team with six boards and chipped in eight points.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, Nov. 23 in Garden City, N.Y. for their Northeast-10 opener against Adelphi. Tip-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
