Field Hockey drops heartbreaker at St. Anselm, 2-0

MANCHESTER, N.H.-The American International College field hockey team (5-5, 0-2 NE-10) battled all game long, but two late goals by the Saint Anselm Hawks (4-5, 2-2 NE-10) sent the Yellow Jackets to a tough loss.

The game was scoreless through the first 63 minutes when sophomore forward Richelle Davis (Enfield, Conn.) took a pass from freshman midfielder Rose Mooney (North Attleborough, Mass.) and stuffed it five-hole at 63:39 to break the scoreless draw; at 66:30, Mooney was able to add an insurance goal, putting one just inside the post for the 2-0 final.

Senior goalkeeper Kori Huffman (Brattleboro, Vt.) stopped nine shots in the loss; AIC was outshot 18-17 despite a 22-16 advantage in penalty corners.

The Yellow Jackets next return home Wednesday, October 9 when they take on the Adelphi Panthers in a Northeast-10 contest.
