SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's basketball team suffered a 62-55 Northeast-10 loss at the hands of Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon at Henry A. Butova Gymnasium. Both teams are now 5-10 overall and 2-9 in the NE-10.

The win snapped a five-game losing skid for the Purple Knights, while the loss was the fifth in a row for the Yellow Jackets.

It was a tight game the entire way until Saint Michael's a 52-42 lead with 5:45 left in the contest. AIC pulled back within six, 58-52, with 1:11 to go, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way.

Sophomore forward Mike Thompson (Rosedale, N.Y.) scored a game-high 14 points with five rebounds and two assists, while fellow sophomore forward James Cambronne () netted 12 points with five boards. Senior forward Derek Knutty (Rocklin, Calif.) and sophomore guard Corey Crawford (Dover, Del.) chipped in with eight points each.

Senior guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) also scored a game-high 14 points with six boards to lead the Yellow Jackets, while junior guard Janek Schmidkunz (Berlin, Germany) netted 12 points on a 4-for-8 performance from downtown. Junior guard Spencer Braithwaite (Dorchester, Mass.) added nine points and dished out five assists.

AIC struggled to find the bottom of the basket the entire game, shooting just 32.7 percent (18-55) from the field and 29.7 percent (11-37) from three-point range. Saint Michael's on the other hand shot 47.1 percent (24-51) from the floor and were 6-of-18 from three.

The Yellow Jackets will next host a Northeast-10 contest against Stonehill College Wednesday, January 23, at 7:30 p.m.
