Men's Basketball Hosts Struggling Stonehill Wednesday Night

ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets enter today's game losers five in a row and eight of their last nine contests, which has dropped their record down to 5-10 overall and 2-9 in the NE-10. AIC is coming off a 62-55 loss to Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon, in which the Yellow Jackets shot just 32.7 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from three. Senior guard Ricky Hudson leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game and is second in rebounding with 5.1 boards per game. He also has 38 assists and a team-best 16 steals. Junior point guard Spencer Braithwaite is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the team with 67 assists, while junior center David Campbell is averaging 10.4 points and a team-best 7.8 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Janek Schmidkunz is averaging 10.7 points per game and ranks among the Northeast-10 leaders in three-point shooting. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 66.7 points per game and shooting 40.5 percent from the field, while their opponents are averaging 68 points per contest and shooting 41.7 percent from the field.

NORTHEAST-10 HONOR ROLL: Hudson landed on the Northeast-10 Honor Roll after averaging 16.5 points and five rebounds per game last week. He scored 19 points with four rebounds at Bentley and netted 14 points with six boards against Saint Michael's

ABOUT STONEHILL: The Skyhawks have also struggled of late, dropping two in a row and four of their last five contests, including a 68-62 loss at Le Moyne Saturday. The lone win in that span was a 71-61 triumph over Saint Rose January 12. Stonehill is an impressive 7-2 athome this season, but has lost all six games away from Merkert Gymnasium so far this season. Senior guard Brian Hamor is averaging 11.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with 40 assists and 14 steals, while senior forward Raheem May-Thompson is averaging 11 points and five rebounds per contest with 18 blocks. Senior guard Adam Fazzini is averaging 10.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, while sophomore forward Jack Cole is averaging 9.7 points and a team-best 8,9 rebounds per game wit a team-best 22 blocks. The Skyhawks are averaging 63.7 points per game and shooting 40.5 percent from the field, while their opponents are averaging 64.8 points per game and shooting 42.6 percent from the floor.

LAST MEETING: Stonehill shot 51.8 percent (29-56) from the field and 47.6 percent (10-21) from three as it defeated AIC 77-44 January 17, 2012 in Easton. The Yellow Jackets shot just 32 percent (16-50) from the field and 21.4 percent (3-14) from three. Cole scored 13 points with nine rebounds to lead the Skyhawks, while May-Thompson added 11 points. Hamor netted 10 points with six boards and six assists. Braithwaite was the high scorer for the Yellow Jackets with nine points to go along with seven rebounds. Graduate guard Sesoo Ikpah added eight points. Stonehill opened the game with a 21-4 run over the first seven minutes of the game and never looked back, taking a 43-17 lead at the half and later leading by as many as 36, 68-32, with 7:48 remaining in the game.

NEXT UP: The Yellow Jackets will travel to Merrimack Saturday and will then head to Franklin Pierce January 29 before returning home to host Southern New Hampshire February 2.
