SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 non-conference decision to Long Island University Post on Saturday afternoon at Ronald J. Abdow field. The Pioneers improved to 4-0-0 overall, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-4-0 overall.
LIU Post jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 14:40 when graduate midfielder Bas Beverwijk (Zwolle, Netherlands) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman back Johan Wallin (Sollentuna, Sweden).
AIC tied the contest at 31:52 when freshman midfield
Kyle Kazukynas (Enfield, Conn.) buried a shot from senior midfield
Conor Doyle (Douglas, Isle of Man) to tie the contest at 1-1. The Pioneers took control of the game 1:51 into the second half when freshman forward Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) scored off a dish from sophomore forward Cemil Turan (Staten Island, NY).
LIU Post went on to score two more goals to earn a 4-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Sophomore goalkeeper Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) earned the victory in net for the Pioneers allowing one goal and making three saves, while junior goalie
Richard Lynham (Kenilworth, England) took the loss for AIC playing 58:33 allowing two goals and making two saves.
The Pioneers outshot the Yellow Jackets 15-13, while AIC held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.
AIC will travel to Le Moyne College on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
