WORCESTER, Mass. – The American International College scored twice in the second half but it was not enough to overcome a 3-0 halftime deficit as it dropped a 3-2 Northeast-10 contest at Assumption College Thursday night.
 
The Greyhounds improved to 4-4 overall and 3-0 in the Northeaast-10 with their fourth consecutive win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
 
Assumption scored three times in the first 12 minutes of the game, getting a pair of goals from sophomore Paige Anderson (Suffield, Conn.) and one tally from freshman Maria Beatrice (West Yarmouth, Mass.). Anderson scored what proved to be the difference maker 11:19 into the match off a pass from the left side from freshman Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, Mass.).
 
AIC tried to rally in the second half and scored twice within a span of 6:32 to make it a one-goal game midway through the second half. Freshman Erica MCLean (Branford, Conn.) tucked the ball just inside the left post in the 52nd-minute and senior 
Lisa Duckles (Netcong, N.J.) scored off a penalty corner in the 59th-minute to make it a 3-2 contest. The Yellow Jackets controlled action the rest of the way but were unable to get the game-tying goal.
 
Sophomore Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass.) registered four saves as she improved to 4-4 in goal for Assumption, while junior 
Kori Huffman (Brattleboro, Vt.) had eight saves while dropping her record to 1-7 for the AIC.
 
The Greyhounds had a 14-11 advantage in shots, while the Yellow Jackets had a 14-8 edge in penalty corners.
 
AIC will next take on Limestone College in a non-conference game Saturday. The match will take place at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. starting at 1 p.m.
